Josh picked out the wood for these shelves and stained them himself. He also picked out the hanging hardware for one of my Christmas gifts. He spent a lot of time on these and bought natural wood frames to contrast the stain. He did a wonderful job!
Below is a glimpse into the privileged life that Josh and I have being parents...enjoy!

New Office and other business
Okay, this update may be a little lengthy. Lots of business to discuss and exciting news on the baby front! I finished moving all the smaller last minute items into the office today and hung pictures and such. That means that the nursery to be is sitting empty minus the hutch from the desk that we can no longer use. Josh and I are going to look at fixtures for the nursery this weekend. We need to decide what type of ceiling fan and other materials we will need for this ginormous project. Josh also managed to get the new shelves up in the living room last night and they look fantastic!! The weather here today was beautiful and I also managed to spend some time outside that was very enjoyable. On the subject of beautiful things....I went for my 12 week prenatal visit today. That means that we have officially made it to the second trimester!!!! We are both hoping for more energy to come. All in all...things checked out wonderfully. All the pending lab work was negative for any "badness" and there was success in hearing the heartbeat. I have decided today that hearing the heartbeat of a healthy fetus makes the world a better place. The next visit will be in four weeks and we are hoping for some weight gain then! Well, this post was shorter than I expected and I hope you find it to be sweet. Enjoy the pictures.
This office is much more spacious that the last...that just mean more room to clean!

The Nursery Phase #1
Hello everyone!
Josh has been hard at work this weekend. Actually, he's done the grunt work and I have done my fair share as well. Josh started the first phase of the nursery renovation. He ran co-axial cable to the upstairs front room so that we could move the computer and office upstairs. Once the wire was ran and he replaced some outlets, it was time so start moving office "stuff" upstairs to the new office. It sounds really simple, until you are carrying load after load upstairs. Let's just say we both skipped the gym this weekend! We also had to condense the office closet into the large walk-in upstairs. This required more moving of "stuff" upstairs. Whew...I'm tired talking about it. Josh also finished the shelves that he has been working on and we are going to hang them later tonight!!! He has done a really great job this weekend multi-tasking and getting large projects knocked out. Pictures to come perhaps tomorrow. There will also be an update on appointment 3. We are hoping to hear the heartbeat for the first time! Phase 2 to be in the works soon as well. Stay tuned.

Eight Weeks
So we keep getting the question. Boy or Girl? What do you think you are going to have? In all honesty.....we don't have feelings one way or the other yet. It seems quite a while off, but in 8 weeks we should have ultrasound confirmation of the sex. In the mean time we have posted a poll for you to take your picks. Of course we will announce the winning vote after the ultrasound, but family and friends wanted a way to know concensus. Enjoy the voting!

Happy 2nd Trimester Katie!
This post is giving a special shout out to our sister in law Katie. She has successfully made it through her first trimester like a champ. Happy second trimester Katie, we are so proud and excited for you. We hope this trimester brings better sleep and less fatigue. Take care.

Appointment #2
So the appointment at the OB went well yesterday. Joshua met the woman that will deliver our baby for the first time. He seemed to be okay with her. There was about 30 mls of blood letting to test for everything under the sun. Not to panic, this is all normal stuff that the doctor sends on any patient who is expecting. We should have those results in about a week. The Dr. tried to hear the baby's heartbeat with no luck. You would think that was disappointing, but we got another free sneak peak at the baby on ultrasound instead! It was a nice suprise. The baby still looks good and everything appears to be "normal". The heartbeat was still visible, but not audible just yet. We have another appointment in four weeks and the Dr. is confident that we will hear the heartbeat then!! Josh and I want to thank everyone who has had encouraging words and has been supportive of us in this journey so far. We appreciate the prayers and thoughts very much.

Helping Paws
So Carson is still adjusting to the news that he is no longer going to be the only baby in the house. I have to laugh about the fact that many books on expecting talk about how to prepare your pet for the arrival of your new baby. Who knew? Having said that, this new picture shows that he is already willing to help out with chores around the house. He likes to keep the dryer warm while I am drying clothes, or is it the other way around? Anyway, thought this was cute. As far as the baby, he or she is certainly growing because I am tired in a way words can not explain. It makes me smile though because we are assuming that everything is going as expected if I'm this tired! We look forward to many more posts and keeping everyone updated!

What's the size of a raspberry and has a beat you can't hear?
For all those faithful readers...............you will be rewarded greatly today, so stay tuned.
This is the first post since Christmas Day. Our family has had a lot of good news since then and we are growing quickly. First..my brother and his wife are expecting their first baby. Katie is almost 11 weeks pregnant. Her and my brother were here Super Bowl weekend and it was great catching up with them and talking all about the expectations of my second niece or nephew. Congrats to them, we couldn't be more happy! My friend Monica and her husband are also almost 14 weeks pregnant with their first bundle of joy!
So let's get back to the title of this post, faithful readers. What is the size of a Raspberry? Try our currently healthy, 7-week-baked baby. Yes, we are pregnant! That beat you can't hear? It's heart, racing at 152 bpm toward it's September 20th due date. Below you will find the sweetest picture we have ever seen. This is the first ultrasound picture of our little baby boy or girl. It is a bit fuzzy here, but the baby is the length of the line with the plus sign on each end. Everything looked great on exam. We are so excited to keep all of you posted here during the next 32 weeks.
Hope you have enjoyed this post! We are so thankful to God for the blessing He has given us and can't wait for the adventure we have just embarked on.
Love,
Josh and Mel
